Help

The questions families ask most. If yours is not here, write to support@cherished.id and a person will answer.

Setting up

I have not got a photograph ready. Can I still start?

Yes. A name is the only thing needed. The page works without a photograph, and you can add one at any point afterwards. Plenty of families set the page up first and find the right picture a week later.

Can I change the web address later?

You can connect a web address of your own at any time, and the printed QR codes keep working because they point at the page rather than at the address. Changing the original address is possible, but anything already printed would then need reprinting, so it is worth choosing carefully.

I stopped halfway through setting it up. Have I lost it?

No. Everything saves as you go and you come back to the step you stopped at. Sign in and the page will be exactly as you left it.

People sharing memories

Do people need an account to send me photographs?

No. They open the link, choose pictures from their phone, add their name and send. That is the whole thing. Anything more than that and half the people you want to hear from would not bother.

Someone sent something we do not want on the page. What now?

Nothing appears until you approve it, so the usual answer is simply not to approve it. If something has already been published you can remove it immediately, and the person who sent it is not told, because that conversation belongs to your family rather than to us.

Can people send video?

Yes, up to about five gigabytes each, which covers anything a phone will record. Video uploads straight from the phone to our storage rather than through the page, so a long clip on a poor connection still gets there.

Someone sent the same photograph twice.

We spot identical copies and set them aside rather than putting them in your queue twice. Their name still goes on the record, because they did send it to you.

Privacy and access

Who can see the page?

Whoever you choose. You can leave it open to anyone with the link, or require a four digit code before the photographs are shown. The link you send to people carries the code already, so nobody you invite has to type anything.

Will it turn up in a search engine?

Not unless you ask for it. New pages are kept out of search entirely, and a page with an access code is never listed.

Someone asked us to take their photograph down.

Remove it from the page and it stops being visible immediately. If they want it deleted altogether rather than hidden, you can do that too, and it goes from our storage as well as from the page.

The funeral

How do I get everything for the slideshow?

Choose what you want for the day, then build a download. You get the full-quality originals in a folder, with a list of who gave you what. Copy it onto a memory stick and hand it over.

Can I print a QR code for the order of service?

Yes, in the sharing section of your family area, at a size that prints cleanly. Scanning it also lets somebody past the access code, so an elderly relative is not asked to key in four digits at a funeral.
